Hello Dan

Nice to be in contact with you - Happy New Year! We are related - your
ancestors Daniel Chaston and Maria Shearing had a sister and brother, Ann
Elizabeth Chaston and William Shearing (note that they were witnesses at
Daniel and Maria's wedding, which took place about a year before their
own), who married and were my ggggrandparents (my maternal grandmother's
maternal grandfather's parents). William Shearing and his ancestors back
for a couple of generations were yeoman farmers in St Cross South Elmham,
Suffolk (not South Elmham St Cross). They appear to have given up the farm
in the depths of the agricultural depression of the late 19th century when
William died in 1880. It's still there - it's called Home Farm but 70 years
ago it was still called Shearings Farm by local people.

49. Maria SHEARING⁽¹⁷⁾ was born on 29 May 1809 in St. Cross South Elmham, Suffolk.⁽²⁵⁶⁾⁽²⁵⁷⁾ Twin of Amelia SHEARING She was baptised on 30 May 1809.⁽²⁴⁵⁾ She appeared on the census in 1851 in Attleboro Rd, Caston, Norfolk. She appeared on the census in 1861 in 1 Attleburgh Rd, Caston, Norfolk.⁽²⁵⁸⁾ She died on 19 Nov 1881 in East Harling, Norfolk.⁽²⁴⁵⁾⁽²⁵⁹⁾ Cause of death = Natural Decay (from the Death Certificate) Sarah Elener WAs a twin to sister Amelia
